Sarah Lynn, who won the thirteenth series of BBC One’s The Apprentice in 2017, asked us to develop a visually appealing ecommerce website that would make it easy for people to buy personalised sweet gifts from her business, Sweets in the City. This would be no ordinary ecommerce project: Sarah wanted to offer her customers a variety of unique products and customisation options, and our developers were tasked with making the whole process as simple and as fun as possible for the end user.

A Sweet Website for Sweets in the City Sarah’s prize for winning The Apprentice was a £250,000 business investment from Lord Sugar. She knew that she needed to make the most of this cash injection, and so she was determined to make her business’s website as attractive, as functional, and as user-friendly as possible.

Sweets in the City don’t just sell sweets – they sell beautiful, hand-packaged sweet gifts, and Sarah had a lot of big ideas for this website that she believed would set her apart from her competition. Our skilled web developers helped her to make these ideas a reality, and everyone involved is extremely happy with the finished website!

Letterbox Treats Sweets in the City’s new website allows users to send Letterbox Treats: letterbox -sized gift boxes that are filled with sweets and customised to include a personal message of the customer’s choosing. This is a great gift option for those times when you want to send a little something to a friend or family member you haven’t seen for a while. Our designers and developers worked hard to make the whole process ultra-straightforward: simply choose a box, add a message, and select a sweet fill before heading to the checkout.

Personalising Your Purchases It’s not just the Letterbox Treats that are customisable – virtually every product on the website can be personalised with a special message. Customisation couldn’t be easier – all the user has to do is click the ‘Add a Personalised Label’ button, enter a message of their choosing, and use the preview button to make sure their personalised gift looks absolutely perfect. This is another ingenious addition that was made possible by the combined expertise of our skilled designers and our experienced dev team.

Monthly Subscriptions Sarah knew that her sweet-toothed customers would appreciate having the option to receive a big box of sweets on a monthly basis, and so that was another feature she asked us to include in the new website. Sweets in the City’s Sweet Society service allows you to have ‘Letterbox’ (small) or ‘City Sharer’ (large) sweet boxes sent to your address in exchange for a small monthly subscription fee. This service is targeted towards business owners who want to give their employees a monthly treat, as well as towards individual sweet lovers who are always running out of treats too soon!
